Pi Day, March 14th,\u00a0celebrates the number pi, also written with the Greek letter \u03c0.\u00a0This is because the number \u03c0 starts out with 3.14 and March 14th can be written 3-14. The Year 6s from Aldenham Prep celebrated\u00a0with a fun, practical Maths lesson with the Year 7s from the Senior School. Activities involved calculating the lengths and heights of parts of the school (posts, pillars, steps, window sills)\u00a0by rolling hoops and cylindrical\u00a0objects along them. The\u00a0children worked out the circumference of the objects they rolled using pi and were then able to calculate the lengths of the parts of the school.<\/p>\n
