Nursery and Reception

In Nursery, children start to develop basic literacy and numeracy skills through interactive activities, while also learning important social skills like sharing and cooperation. Reception introduces more structured learning to prepare children for Year 1, with formal lessons in reading, writing, and mathematics. The curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, covering areas such as communication, language, physical development, and personal, social, and emotional development. Children also have lessons in French, Music and physical education with specialist teachers. We incorporate outdoor learning in our outdoor spaces including The Spinney to encourage exploration and physical activity.

“Leo had a fantastic morning at the Little Lions event. I think he explored every station more than once. He particularly enjoyed the craft station making the best faces out of putty. I think the whole idea really sets Aldenham apart as a school that really cares about those who may be joining.”
