Fearsome Pirates!

February 27, 2017

For Year 1’s Creative Curriculum week, they found out all about Pirates. They read the story ‘Class Three all at Sea’ by Julia Jarman and wrote their very own Year 1 Pirate adventure story based on the book. They designed treasure maps and discussed some famous Pirates in History including Blackbeard!.

On Pirate day, they came to school dressed as Pirates and took part in a Year 1 treasure hunt where they had to find where and work out different clues hidden around school.

They learnt what life would be like on board a Pirate ship and all the jobs you would have to do. They even learnt a Pirate song and dance called ‘A Pirate you should be’. Answering the register with ‘aye aye captain’ was great fun!
