“I tried an olive for the first time!”
February 26, 2016
Year 2 have been busy in Food Technology the topic has been ‘Fruit and Vegetables’. This topic involved; a healthy and balanced diet, nutrition and vitamins, hygiene, health and safety and finally food preparation and cooking.
The children got into groups and had to create a smoothie and healthy dish for their ‘café’. They had to plan a menu, design the dishes, write instructions for their recipe (which tied in brilliantly with the English topic) then make their smoothies and recipes and finally try their creations. The only rule was that they could only make their dishes from fruit and vegetables; the rest was left to them. They worked very hard and were extremely creative with their ideas which were all their own.
A yummy, healthy treat for everyone and the children even did the washing up.
“I thought it was fun and exciting as we got to see what others made” Sophie
“It was such fun! I got to cut peppers and watch a smoothie being made.” Matthew
“I really enjoyed trying new fruit and vegetables. I tried an olive for the first time!” Sienna

Reception in Forest School

Reception used the rest of the juice to paint faces and to add to some mud casseroles. We finished off by eating some blackberries and hearing a story about a mouse […]
