Foundation Stage Dads enjoy woodland session with the children

Aldenham Prep School Nursery and Reception children were joined by their dads for a special play session in the woods. Activities included making stick men, clay models and den building.  All the children decorated photograph frames with woodland resources and presented them to their dads at the end of the session complete with a photograph of them together.

"The Aldenham woodland session with all the Dads, children and staff of Reception / Nursery was a really lovely experience. It was great to meet everyone and to spend some quality time together. Stick man making, bubble blowing, treasure hunts, eating cake and drinking gallons of coffee made for an ideal way to spend a Saturday morning." said Mr Dougan, one of the thirty or more dads who went along.

The children in the Foundation Stage at Aldenham Prep school enjoy a session in the woods every week and it is popular day with all the children and staff. Wearing their all in one suit the children always return exhilarated by the experience.

Mrs Gocher, Head of Aldenham Prep School, said “it was wonderful that so many dads came along in their wellies ready to get stuck in to all the activities. All the children were delighted to share their weekly woodland adventures.”

Reception in Forest School

Reception turned things pink at Forest School. Using blackberries, we squashed them to extract the juice, then used this to tie dye our white hankies. Reception used the rest of the juice to paint faces and to add to some mud casseroles. We finished off by eating some blackberries and hearing a story about a mouse […]

Nursery Update

We have been exploring sounds in Phonics, compared quantities in Maths, and got creative with nature faces and hedgehog art using autumn leaves. The children loved our woodland walk and story time! Next week’s theme: ‘Ourselves’—please help your child bring a picture or drawing of their house for Show and Tell.
