Year 6 Visit the Houses of Parliament

November 16, 2016

Year 6 had a great day out in London. In the morning they had a tour around the Houses of Parliament which included standing in the House of Lords. They were not allowed to sit down on the red leather benches! The History of the Houses of Parliament was explained as well as how Acts are passed by Parliament today. Following this they walked along Whitehall and stood by the cenotaph thinking about the people who had been killed or had fought in many wars. They also stopped at Downing Street to see the Prime Minister’s official residence and office. After lunch outside in Trafalgar Square they studied a range of landscapes in the National Gallery and compared the techniques and styles of different painters.
