Netball Team travel to Suffolk

January 13, 2016

Our Netball 1st VII team travelled to Ipswich where they played two matches, winning one and losing in the other. There was never a dull moment as the girls also took the opportunity for some go-karting and bowling before returning home on Sunday afternoon.

The first match against Woodbridge saw our team excel in the first quarter as they came out with confidence and determination. Great movement from Georgie Yeabsley helped to keep us ahead but the other team made some changes and started to run away with the score. Aldenham’s shooters remained calm and kept our goals ticking over. Some controlled attacking in the mid court and from set plays meant the girls had a great last quarter but unfortunately time ran out for them.

A very close and exciting game against the Royal Hospital School on the Sunday morning saw the Aldenham side triumph. The match started with pace; Georgie Yeabsley and Gracie Farrell appeared unstoppable in the circle, rarely missing. This helped Aldenham to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter. Throughout the game Aldenham proved their ability by maintaining the lead despite numerous changes from RHS in all areas of the court. The score was tied 16-16 with just one and a half minutes to go but the girls fought hard to gain the last two goals and win the match.

The girls played some fantastic netball which will set them up well for the rest of the season.

Sports Day

Sports Day was all about giving 100%—every sprint, jump, and throw showed real dedication. The competition was intense, but what stood out most was the respect and support everyone showed for each other. We celebrated not just the wins, but the effort, teamwork, and talent on display across the board.
