Cricket at Aldenham

The Cricket pitches sit at the heart of the school. The summer term is alive with the sounds

of cricket, and students and staff gather to watch both training and matches in the summer

sunshine in our majestic grounds.

Cricket at Aldenham

Cricket is a major summer sport at Aldenham, with boys and girls enjoying a comprehensive programme of coaching, fixtures and competition. Under the expert guidance of our full-time professional cricket coach, David Goodchild, formerly of Middlesex, alongside our highly qualified teaching and coaching staff, pupils develop their skills in an environment that promotes ambition, teamwork and sportsmanship.
We field two senior teams alongside A and B teams at each age group, providing opportunities for pupils of all abilities to train, compete and represent the School.
Our extensive fixture programme includes matches against the MCC and XL Club, as well as leading schools including Westminster, Haileybury, UCS, Berkhamsted, Haberdashers’, Bishop’s Stortford College and Mill Hill.

Cricket Tours

Cricket at Aldenham extends well beyond the School grounds. Our overseas touring programme has taken pupils to destinations including the UAE, Sri Lanka, Barbados and South Africa, providing unforgettable opportunities to play against different opposition, experience new cricketing cultures and develop both on and off the field.
Tours are an important part of the Aldenham cricket experience, combining high-quality competition and training with the friendships, independence and memories that come from travelling together as a team.

Specialist Cricket Facilities

Aldenham offers excellent facilities to support cricket throughout the year. Our extensive grounds include four grass wickets, an artificial wicket and six all-weather outdoor nets, providing outstanding opportunities for training and competitive cricket during the summer.
Our five indoor cricket nets allow players to continue their development throughout the winter months. A dedicated off-season programme gives our cricketers the opportunity to work on their batting, bowling and fielding before the competitive season begins.
Whether pupils are picking up a bat for the first time or aspiring to play at a higher level, Cricket at Aldenham provides the coaching, facilities, competition and opportunities for every player to develop and enjoy the game.
