U18 Squad Make 3 in a Row!
April 28, 2023
The 1st X1 won the U18 Hertfordshire County Cup following a 3-1 win over St Michael’s School at Kings Langley Football Club. After the first match was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch, with the score at 1-1, the second game turned out to be just as competitive. The first 20 minutes saw both teams have good chances before The 1st X1 settled into the game and took the lead after a great move which involved Leo Goldschmied, Fredrick Plant and Ben Eaves setting up Joshua Elash to tap in at the far post. St Michael’s quickly found an equaliser though when their forward broke through to finish well from 20 yards. The score remained level until half-time. The second half started in much the same fashion as the first, but this time once the 1st X1 got on top, there looked like only one winner. The second goal came when Roman Pirani delivered a free kick from a wide area to the far post and Harry Phantis rose to head home. The game was then won when Jack Swales broke down the left wing, squared the ball to Orlando Fertleman who passed onto Ben Eaves, Ben found space for a cross and Fredrick Plant diverted the ball into the net to send the crowd delirious.
