Years 7-9: Build Confidence & Explore New Ideas
Every term, students discover new artists, materials, and techniques – from abstract masterpieces to graffiti inspired prints, Expressionist portraits to Renaissance symbolism. By the end of Year 9, students will have gained experience in painting (Water colour, acrylic) sculpture (clay slab work and hand building, glazes, soap carving, wire sculpture) Drawing (charcoal, colour pencil, pen mark making, ink drawing, pastels, oil pastel, still life and urban drawing), Printing (mono and reduction lino printing), and more, fostering a lifelong love for the arts. Students have the opportunity to showcase their talents in our annual Junior Letchmore Trust Prize Exhibition and push their ideas in our Junior Art Club.
GCSE: Where Creativity Takes Flight
Students are encouraged to discover their own creative path and strengthen independent thinking skills with the support of individualised teaching.
They are able to develop their unique artistic voices through a variety of materials and visual languages. They can explore their own creative journey and experiment with different techniques in sculpture, printmakin and painting.
The department runs many trips to London Art galleries for all exam classes to inspire the students. Senior Art enrichment is offered for additional support and enables use of our excellent facilities. Students can showcase their talent in our End-of-Year Art Exhibition.
“We feel the school offers much more than just education, we believe that it teaches your child how important their time is at school, and this in turn gets the best out of every pupil, not just our daughter.”
