International Students

We welcome international students, boys and girls,
of all nationalities and faiths.

International students have been enjoying their time at Aldenham for decades. Our close
proximity to London (25 minutes) and Heathrow (45 Minutes) whilst being in beautiful
countryside makes Aldenham an ideal choice.

Joining Aldenham as an international student

A number of international boarders join the School each year and take up the full boarding option. The closeness of the School to Heathrow, Luton, City and Stansted airports (all can be reached in under one hour), but also central London is a major attraction (25 mins). However, Aldenham sits in 115 Acres of green space, and is surrounded by green fields. The location really is outstanding and, to quote the Good Schools Guide, ‘really needs to be seen to be believed’.

Strength In Diversity

A Multicultural Community

Each year, a number of international students join us from many countries including China, Germany, Spain, Nigeria, Ghana, Russia, Mexico, Brazil and Ukraine. It is also worth noting that as we are close to North London, our school reflects the vibrant multicultural feel of the capital city, although very much continuing to provide the best of British education.

Relaxed Weekends

No Saturday School or Exeats

Aldenham also has a more relaxed weekend than some boarding schools, with no Saturday School. Instead, there is time to relax with friends, pop into nearby Watford or London, and to take some time to focus on independent study. We also run a range of enrichment trips and activities at the weekend for our International Boarders.

Exceptional Pastoral Care

A Welcoming Home From Home

A high priority is placed on pastoral care at Aldenham, to ensure pupils flourish and realise their academic and personal potential. All students, no matter where they come from, quickly become proud Aldenhamians and feel at home.

Short term boarding

It is possible to board for one or two terms, or for a single year at Aldenham. Several students do this before returning home (or deciding to stay and complete the course). Aldenham staff are skilled at making this experience an enjoyable and enriching one for students, even if with us for a shorter time.

Please note that short term boarding is only available where there are spaces and it is advised to contact the Admissions Team to discuss this before applying.

Once all steps are complete, we aim to make a decision within one week during term time.

Future pathways

The majority of our long term international students share the objective of completing A level courses as a pathway to UK universities. Each year we have international pupils who achieve places at Russell Group and other top universities. Some do return to university in their own country, and some choose to study in the USA.

Any international student wishing to be considered for a place at Aldenham must have a good command of the English Language in order to progress with the curriculum, GCSE and A Level courses.

For those with weaker English, we do offer the opportunity to follow an induction year, such that the first year they spend at Aldenham enables them to gain fluency in the language to better facilitate success in their two year examination course (GCSE or A Level).
