Golf at Aldenham
Golf at Aldenham provides opportunities for both elite players and pupils looking to develop their game, with a varied programme of competitive fixtures, tournaments and weekly training.
Our leading golfers represent the School in the ISGA Matchplay Competition, where Aldenham has reached the National Finals three times in the last ten years, as well as the W.S. Schools’ Invitational Meeting.
The School also competes in the annual Tom Morkill Cup, a triangular competition involving Aldenham, Dame Alice Owen’s School and the Brewers’ Company. Other opportunities include our annual fixture against the Old Aldenhamians, a junior triangular competition with Mill Hill and Dame Alice Owen’s, and the Hertfordshire Schools’ mid-handicap and scratch stroke play championships.
Golf is also available through the School’s Enrichment Programme, with pupils travelling each week to local driving ranges and courses to practise and develop their game. This provides an opportunity for experienced golfers to receive additional practice while also allowing pupils who are newer to the sport to develop their skills.
Individual Golfing Success
Aldenham has a proud golfing heritage, with former pupils progressing from school golf into the professional game.
Matt Wallace was an outstanding sports scholar during his time at Aldenham and has gone on to establish a highly successful career in professional golf. He has recorded victories on the European Tour, achieved a top-50 world ranking and secured his first PGA Tour victory in 2023.
Fellow Old Aldenhamian Arran Kanth continued Aldenham’s professional golfing tradition when he turned professional in the summer of 2024.
From pupils learning and enjoying the game through Enrichment to golfers competing for the School at national level, Aldenham Golf provides a pathway for players to develop, compete and pursue their ambitions in the sport.
