Prestigious Award for leading All-Rounder in Schools’ Cricket

Lee Tyrrell (Riding’s 2010-15) was thrilled to receive the Cricket Society’s Wetherell Award for the leading all-rounder in schools’ cricket. This prestigious annual award, founded by Rex Wetherell and first made in 1967, was presented to Lee at the Cricket Society’s Spring Dinner held at the Royal Over-Seas League in London on 22 April.
The Wetherell Trophy, with all the winners’ names engraved, is kept in the museum at Lord’s. Each winner is given an inscribed plaque to keep, along with a modest cheque. Mr Nigel Hancock OBE, Chairman of The Cricket Society, congratulated Lee declaring “We will follow your career with interest.”

With his sights set on a full professional cricket contract in the future, Lee is currently playing 2nd XI cricket for Worcestershire and he also plays for Barnt Green in the Birmingham Premier League.
Sporting their School cricket ties, the Headmaster James Fowler along with Director of Sport Andrew Stephenson, current Master in Charge of Cricket Charles Irish and previous Master in Charge of Cricket Mike Yeabsley, were happy to be photographed alongside Lee on the evening.
