Old Aldenhamian wins the Portugal Open

Matt Wallace, who was in Leeman’s House 2003-2008, emerged victorious in the Portugal Open at Morgado this weekend. This is the first part of the European Tour and a brilliant achievement for Matt which follows on from his success in the Alps Tour last season.

He had a 63 on the first day and continued to stay in control until the finish. One player was 9 under on the last day after 16 holes to draw level but a bogey at 17 followed by Matt’s own birdies at 13 and 16 made Matt 4 under for the final and restored his 3 shots lead. His total score was 271, which is 21 under par.
