A Level Success at Aldenham
August 16, 2018
This morning saw the 72 pupils from Year 13 celebrating the release of the A Level results which are the culmination of two years’ hard work. The results enabled over 80% of the students to be admitted immediately to their universities of choice. 25% will be starting courses at the elite Russell Group universities.
Over 46% of all the grades were at A*/A /B grade which was very much in line with the results of last year with over 70% at A* to C level.
Top performers included last year’s Head Girl Phoebe Altman ( A*A*A*) who has a place at Bristol to read English and Classics; Matthew Gillespie ( AAA) who will go to Warwick to read Biochemistry; Jodie Hall-McAteer (A*A*A*) will go to Nottingham to read History after a gap year to pursue her international show jumping career; Shiv Menon ( AAB) will begin his medical studies at Leicester; Abi Smuts (A*A*A) will be reading English at Exeter.
Headmaster James Fowler commented: “With the major changes to linear A levels now taking effect for all students across the country, it has been excellent to see that Aldenham students have been able to do so well in these crucial examinations. I have little doubt that as our students begin the next stage of their educational journeys, they will feel supported with the firm foundations put in place over their time here. We wish them every success for the future.”
