Aldenham Retain U15 Investec ISFA Title

An excellent game against Royal Russell School in the finals at Burton Albion grounds on 7 March resulted in a 2-1 win for Aldenham to be crowned this year’s champions for the second time. Aldenham School Football Club was founded around 1825 which would quite possibly make it one of the oldest football clubs in the world. The school ranks as one of the oldest and most established football schools in the country and this second ISFA national title in successive years by Aldenham is further evidence of this.

In an exciting and competitive game both teams had numerous opportunities in the first half but failed to capitalise due to the fantastic goalkeeping displayed by both sides. In the final minute of the first half Romey Eccles-Meodod managed to get around three defenders but the Royal Russell goalkeeper was quick off his line to collect the ball. The first half ended goalless, leaving the final wide open.

It was Aldenham who broke the deadlock after 45 minutes through a great goal by Osereme Ufuah. This was soon followed by Romey Eccles-Meodod who calmly finished a low shot from inside the 18 yard box, to make the score 2-0. Aldenham started to dominate possession from this point but Royal Russell continued to be positive and were rewarded with a goal. In what was a very tense final few minutes Aldenham managed to hold on to retain the title, much to the great delight of the many fans in the stadium.
