Admissions at 13+
For children joining at 13+ (Year 9), 20-30 places are available.
13+ entrants join the pupils moving up from Martineau’s and Woodrow's Houses who have spent Years 7 and 8 at Aldenham. Places are offered on the basis of 13+ examination, interview, reference and school report.
Registrations for 13+ September 2026 have now closed.
If you wish to be considered as a late applicant please register below.
Entry Assessment
All registered candidates will be invited to sit the entrance examination on the 11 January and places to start at Aldenham in Year 9 will be offered for those who perform well enough in the examination and interview. References will also be requested from the candidate's current school.
If your child is currently in Year 8, we are offering a 11 January 2025 examination (for entry to Aldenham in September 2025) as we have a few remaining places.
You will be invited for interview after registration is complete. This usually takes place before the examination, but if all times are fully booked, then interviews will take place post examination subject to good performance in the examination.
Late applications are considered, but as the spaces are few, early applications are advised.
The Nature of the Assessments
Current Year 7 children who wish to sit the entrance examination for entry to Aldenham in September 2026 will be sitting a Quest Assessments (Atom) examination. Familiarisation materials are available by clicking this link.
Current Year 8 children who wish to sit the entrance examination for entry to Aldenham in September 2025 will be sitting a Midyis (CEM) examination and a separate science paper. There are no preparatory materials for this, as CEM do not recommend or supply them. The science paper will cover only National Curriculum science which would have been expected to be taught in primary school and Year 7 age.
If you have not yet seen the school, please take the time to book a tour - click here.
Pupils are keen to learn and are well motivated."
Offer of a Place
Offers will be made to successful candidates by the end of January, and acceptances must be made by March along with a deposit to secure the place.
Induction Day
Pupils in Year 9 will attend an Induction Day on the day before the start of the new academic year. This is a team building exercise and is an essential part of the Induction Programme. Trials for the school football teams will also take place on this day, as they will often have a match on the first Saturday.
