Scholarship and Bursaries

A number of awards are made each year.

Aldenham gives awards for academic excellence, and for outstanding ability and potential in
other disciplines. Awards are also made giving financial assistance where there is
appropriate need and the potential for success is great.

Bursary Awards

Subject to an annual review, are available to support a number of students each year whose family circumstances mean that they would be unable to join or continue in the School, but where their potential of success is judged to be significant. Bursary application is usually made at the time of registration, but can also be made later in the child’s school career if it becomes necessary.

All bursary applications include means testing by a third party, independent company, which then gives advice to the school about the level of need.

It is important to note that bursary funding is limited, particularly in the light of recent changes on VAT legislation, removal of Business Rates Relief, and increases in National Insurance and Pension contributions. As a result, if you feel it is the case that you would need a substantial bursary to be able to afford the fees, it is unlikely that Aldenham would be able to bridge such a gap at this time. Do contact fees@aldenham.com to discuss this before formally registering for a place if you would like a confidential discussion about this.

Academic Scholarship Awards

Awards for academic excellence are made at 11+ and 13+ on the basis of performance in the entrance examination and interview. At 16+, awards are made on the basis of GCSE performance and interview. To retain the award, consistently exceptional academic performance is expected, and is subject to annual review.

Other Scholarship Awards

Other scholarship awards for Art, Drama, Design & Technology (Including Textiles), Music, and Sport are available to celebrate excellence. These awards can be applied for at the time of application to the School and are awarded to candidates who show outstanding talent, based on both ability and potential. To retain the award, consistently exceptional performance in the designated area is expected, and is subject to annual review.
