Aldenham pupils shine at the ISGA National Golf Finals
April 26, 2016
The Aldenham A golf team of Oliver Baker, Arran Kanth and Josh Walker were placed 9th in the finals of the largest Independent Schools Golf competition at the home of golf at St Andrews in Scotland. 135 Independent schools enter this competition each year so it was an excellent top 10 finish for our players.
On Sunday the 24th April the first round was played on the Torrance course in St Andrews Bay. The boys acquitted themselves well with Arran scoring a two over 74 placing him 8th= from the field of 60 and Josh a nine over 81 placing him 23rd. The School team was in 11th place with only four strokes separating them from 5th.
On the second day the wind had picked up and the frequent snow and hail flurries made the golf challenging on the Eden course. Oliver shot an impressive six over 76 which was the second best score on the day with Arran shooting an 11 over 81.
In the individual performances Arran finished 10th, Oliver 27th and Josh 43rd. This was a particularly outstanding result for Arran who, as a Year 10 student, was one of the youngest in the field which included England U18 players. A real prospect for the future.
