Life on Campus
Aldenham is a thriving community of Day Students, Flexi Boarders, and Full Boarders. This means that the Full Boarders benefit from a vibrant network of friends, many of whom will board with them during the week. However, at the weekend, when things are quieter, they are able to take a breath and relax in their own space.
Full Boarders benefit from excellent facilities in their Boarding Houses, and also access to the wider facilities of the school. The Common Room is open for food and drink and some socialising ‘between houses’ several times a week, and there are many and varied House-run events to enjoy. Access to the theatre, the library, sports hall and gym is very popular.
For those who are working towards public examinations – there are many tutors on site who can support the academic work, and give guidance on application to university (in the UK or beyond) or degree apprenticeships.
Most of all, Aldenham is a supportive and warm environment and full boarding students regularly tell us that this is like home. It is a place to safely develop and grow.
Full Boarding Options
Full Boarding is available from age 11. Aldenham allows One Term, Two Term and Full Year boarding for international students, although most choose to complete full years and would usually complete the whole GCSE programme and the A Level Programme.
There is no Saturday School, so weekends are more homely and relaxed. Students have the opportunity to take part in the enrichment programme and also some private study. Some students (if old enough) like to visit London and Watford which are close by, and also visit the homes of local day students friends they have made.
There are no Exeat Weekends. Instead, when the school fixture programme has a weekend off, Full Boarders are taken on longer residential weekends away – such as visits to Edinburgh, which are included in the cost of boarding.
