With the opportunity to study GCSE, A Level and individual instrumental examinations there is plenty of opportunity to take music seriously. However, playing music is also fun, and whether soloist or playing in bands and orchestras, there is always something to get involved in.
There are student concerts in the Houses, Student concerts in our Recital Room, the major Spring Concert in our 700 seater chapel, and Ald Fest – our open air evening music festival in the summer.
With dedicated and experienced staff, all with professional experience and connections, Aldenham musicians are given wonderful opportunities to grow and develop further.
Music Competitions
The House Music Competition is perhaps the most keenly contested competition of any in the annual life of the School. All students take part, either singing in the House Unison, or Part Song, or playing an instrument in the Solo or Ensemble competitions. Performing to an audience of 1200 this is an experience loved by all students, and winning is never forgotten.
The Beck Music Competition is for soloists, at Junior, Intermediate and Advanced Level. Students work on their pieces and then perform to peers, parents, staff and adjudicator aiming to claim that elusive award.
There really is so much Music at Aldenham, if you sing or play, or want to, you will find yourself at home.
