Athletics

Althletics at Aldenham

Athletics enhances physical fitness, boosts mental resilience, and fosters teamwork.

Participating in track and field events builds discipline, improves coordination, and instills a

lifelong love for healthy competition.

Athletics in the Curriculum

Athletics is taught in core PE from Yr7-10 for all students. Elite athletes also have 1-2-1 sessions with the Head of Athletics during games lessons in Yr9&10 & enrichment for Yr7&8. The school enters the National Track & Field Cup and the Watford District Championships. Elite individual athletes are also entered into the Hertfordshire Schools Championships where those who have won and reached National qualifying times can compete for Herts at the National Championships.

“We feel the school offers much more than just education, we believe that it teaches your child how important their time is at school, and this in turn gets the best out of every pupil, not just our daughter.”

Athletics Competition

Aldenham has regularly produced elite young athletes who go on to represent Hertforshire at the Nationals. 2024 has seen two of our best young athletes do this. Haydan London in the U17 400m Hurdles & Dijani Barnor in the U15 300m.

The school also hosts an Annual Inter House Sports Day where students compete for their houses against each other at a professional athletics track.
