Work with us

Aldenham School is a day and boarding school founded in 1597, and has remained on the same outstanding site ever since. Set in 110 acres surrounded by green fields, yet only 13 miles from Marble Arch, Aldenham is responsible for educating boys and girls from age 3 to 18. It has always been a school with a very strong boarding ethos and its reputation as an excellent environment for a high quality, all round education owes much to its close knit and supportive community. Central to our educational aims is the achievement of every child’s academic potential, but the building of confidence comes equally from participation in sport, music and drama and by meeting the challenge of living and working together within the disciplined community that is at the heart of Aldenham. The same friendly and all round ethos is true from the nursery to the end of A Levels.

The Aldenham Foundation incorporates Aldenham School and Aldenham Prep School.

Leadership Post

Head of Aldenham Foundation

The Governing Body of The Aldenham Foundation seeks a new Head from September 2027, on the retirement of Alex Hems after a successful tenure.

Founded in 1597 by Richard Platt, Master of the Worshipful Company of Brewers, Aldenham is set in a beautiful rural location just 13 miles from central London. Aldenham Senior School shares the lovely 110 acre site with Aldenham Prep School.

Aldenham has a distinctive culture and ethos, recognising its responsibility to prepare pupils not only for examinations but also for the opportunities and responsibilities of adult life. The School encourages pupils to develop the knowledge, character and confidence needed to make a positive contribution to the world beyond school. At Aldenham, every pupil is known and valued as an individual, and the curriculum, co-curricular programme and pastoral care are carefully designed to help them flourish, building resilience, curiosity and integrity so that they leave as well-rounded, balanced young adults ready to lead fulfilling lives and contribute meaningfully to society.

The next Head of Aldenham will lead the Foundation through an exciting period of strategic change and development. The successful candidate will be a warm and engaging person who is a strategic and visionary leader, aligned with the values and ethos of Aldenham and able to add real value to the Foundation and its future, and with the skills to motivate and inspire staff and pupils.
