Golfing victory for Old Aldenhamian, Matt Wallace

February 24, 2016

Congratulations to Matt Wallace, OA, who claimed his maiden win on the Alps Tour Golf in February 2016. The Alps Tour gives young golfers the opportunity to gain experience in professional tournaments.

Matt played with patience and determination. He signed his final round 69 to win by one shot over Ireland’s David Carey and Antoine Schwartz of France. He gained three birdies on his first four holes to set the pace, but dropped two shots on the 6th and 7th to give his challengers hope.

The threat was in the second last group but, as a sign of fate, Schwartz bogeyed the 16th, and Carey the 17th. Matt did not make any mistakes and finally enjoyed the taste of a much-deserved victory.

After the Winter series in Egypt, France’s Franck Daux is leading the Alps Tour Order of Merit thanks to his two wins. Matt Wallace is second, David Casey third, Julien Foret fourth and Daniel Osorio fifth.
