Hertsmere Hustings at Aldenham
December 3, 2019
On 2nd December 2019, Aldenham hosted three local parliamentary candidates to present their arguments to the student and staff body on why they should be elected in Hertsmere and to their party on a national scale.
Oliver Dowden from the Conservative Party, Holly Kal-Weiss from the Labour Party and Stephen Barrett from the Liberal Democrats all passionately put forward their answers to questions from a range of students. Issues such as the environment, the role of independent schools and of course Brexit were debated and the candidates were gratefully received by all present.
Aldenham will be holding its own mock election on 12th December, the same day as the General Election, so this was a perfect chance to enhance democratic and political engagement.
