Milly is Number 1 Athlete at the County Combined Events Championships
May 8, 2016
Year 8 students Milly Gall, Daniel Oyegoke and Zak Brown performed well in the County Combined Events Championships at Stevenage Athletics Track against Hertfordshire’s finest athletes. This event, in essence a Junior version of the Heptathlon/Decathlon, saw our athletes compete with other sportspersons one year older than themselves in the Hurdles, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot and 800m in very difficult conditions due to the heat.
The most impressive athlete, Milly was the overall winner having lead the competition after the first four events. At this stage all the 88 competitors were split for the last 800m race with the current top 12 running the last race. Milly had to watch four other 800m races first before her race knowing that if she could finish ahead of her closest rivals she would be the winner. Milly ran an impressive 2 mins 49 secs to hold her rivals and win the whole competition. Considering Milly is a year younger than the majority of her competitors this was an incredible achievement. She also broke 4 school records for her age group throughout the day.
Daniel finished 21st out of 88, with his performance in the Hurdles scoring his highest points and Zak finished 35th with his High Jump of 1.41m being his best event.

Sports Day
Sports Day was all about giving 100%—every sprint, jump, and throw showed real dedication. The competition was intense, but what stood out most was the respect and support everyone showed for each other. We celebrated not just the wins, but the effort, teamwork, and talent on display across the board.
