More wins for Aldenham athletes at District Athletics Championships

June 23, 2016

It was a very successful day at the District Athletics Championships this week which saw our most successful year thus far. Our overall boys were placed 3rd out of the 14 schools in the competition and the combined boys and girls were 7th even though we entered no girls' Year 7 or Year 9 teams in the event.

In the boys' events the Year 7 Boys were 2nd, Year 8 were 9th, Year 9 were 6th and Year 10 were 3rd - only 2 points behind two schools who were the joint winners at that age group. As for the girls, the Year 7/8 team (competing as Year 8) were placed 7th and Year 9/10, who competed in the Year 10 category, came 6th.

There were 9 individual winners, 9 second places and 6 third place finishes, plus 2 relay team wins. A total of 12 new school records were also broken. This all looks very promising for Sports Day next week when we hope for good weather so that the whole school get to see some of our outstanding athletes.

Sports Day

Sports Day was all about giving 100%—every sprint, jump, and throw showed real dedication. The competition was intense, but what stood out most was the respect and support everyone showed for each other. We celebrated not just the wins, but the effort, teamwork, and talent on display across the board.
