Holocaust Memorial Day
January 29, 2020
As part of our Holocaust Memorial Day commemorations, Aldenham hosted a group of students and teachers from Immanuel College. Some of these students had travelled to Rwanda last summer to learn about the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, in which one million Rwandans were killed in just 100 days.
We were also honoured to welcome Chantal Uwamahoro who told her story of living through the Genocide. Our students engaged in some insightful discussions about the Genocide, and listened compassionately and attentively to Chantal’s profoundly moving and shocking story. Chantal commented that it had been a ‘privilege’ to talk to them and that she was ‘really impressed with how they handled [listening to her story] and the questions they asked’
