Staff v Year 13 Cricket
May 18, 2021
The staff team won the toss and elected field first.
Aldenham School managed to score 103 all out off 16.4 overs. The pick of the bowlers being Mr Ozzie Rahman who took three fantastic wickets for 14 runs. Luke Kirsten took three fine catches in the field and despite being despatched around the ground took the wickets of the school U18 team two main danger players (Shareeq Sheik and Viran Patel). Viran Patel scored a wonderful half century in not easy conditions and should be congratulated on a fine innings.
Aldenham Staff XI lost three early wickets – Mr Breeze (15), Mr Frais (8) and Mr Kirsten (7) and at 36-3 for the staff team was vulnerable. The tight bowling of Ed Gaeton and Viren Patel meant the ball was very hard to get away, however, a match wining partnership (67) between Mr Coleman (35) and Mr Yeabsley (24) managed to take the score to 103. With one run to win and two balls left Mr Yeabsley was run out by a brilliant piece of fielding from Aadam Ali and it was left to Mr Hoskins to score a single off the final ball of the match. A short log hop followed and Hoskins mightily smashed the ball to the boundary meaning the staff XI won by 6 wickets.
