Target 2.0 Bank of England Interest Rate Challenge

Following their win at the regional heat of the Bank of England Interest Rate Challenge the Aldenham team travelled to the Prudential Regulatory Authority in London, a subsidiary of the Bank, to compete in the Area Finals.

The Aldenham team acquitted themselves admirably, delivering an 18 minute presentation covering different areas of the UK economy to give an assessment of the outlook for inflation and economic growth, and monetary policy. This was followed by 15 minutes of questioning from agents of the Bank to determine their economic knowledge and the strength of their decision.

An enormous amount of time was given to the preparation by the team who devoted many hours each week to study the macroeconomic data in order to compile their assessment.

Although they didn’t emerge the winners each member will have gained enormously by having had the opportunity to make it to this stage in such a prominent competition.

Congratulations to Tom Yardley – Captain, Stephen McMahon, Reshmi Patel and Ahilesh Ramesh, ably supported by Iana Ezrokh and Tom Ripper.

Paintballing

Year 12 Riding’s girls enjoyed a post-exams tutor group trip to Delta Force Paintball. None of the students had been paintballing before and they all showed great courage and teamwork in the arena.
