GCSE

We offer pupils the chance to take a range of GCSE and iGCSE courses which are appropriate to their skills and abilities.

Classes are set in the core subjects allowing different paces of work to be set appropriately. All pupils follow an extensive ‘core’ programme of study which involves work in English Language and Literature, Science (taught as three separate sciences, leading to a double or triple GCSE award), Mathematics, Philosophy Religion and Ethics (PRE), Physical Education and Computing. In addition, pupils choose up to four subjects from a wide choice, including History, Geography, Music, Art, Design Technology, PE, Drama, French and Spanish. Pupils are set in most subjects according to their past performance. Coursework is carefully guided and all pupils have access to the Computing Centre to support their GCSE studies. Course details for GCSE and A Level including enrichment activities are detailed in the Guide to Courses, available on request. At the end of the GCSE years over 80% of pupils proceed to the Aldenham Sixth Form.
