Top Results for GCSE Students

At a time when there was anxiety about the national changes to GCSE grades, Aldenham students achieved most impressive results. The 94 students in the cohort achieved the School’s highest ever proportion of A* grades with 17% of all examinations being graded at this top level or at the new top grades 9 or 8 for Maths. The introduction of the new harder Maths qualification was a challenge which our staff and pupils coped with extremely well with a 97% pass rate at level 4 or above.

In all, 51% of the students gained at least 4 or more A*/A grades or equivalent and 22% gained 9 or more A*/A grades. Amongst these were some exceptional performers: Misha Behr 9 A*; Alexandra Caine 7A*/3A; Stan Campbell 10A*/2A; James Crawley 7A*/5A; Michael Li 7A*/3A; Abbasali Merali 11A*/1A; Jonah Miller 9A/1A; Rebekkah Pedrithes 7 A*/4A; Harshil Vachhani 8A*/3A.

Headmaster James Fowler commented: “The GCSE programme continues to offer pupils at this crucial stage of their education a range of challenges. It is clear that Aldenham pupils and staff have approached these with determination and a real commitment to success. I am delighted that these outstanding results will give students tremendous confidence as they move onto the next stage of their education. We will expect great things from them at A Level and beyond.”
