Charity Netball Festival at Aldenham

Another enjoyable Aldenham Charity Netball Tournament attracted lots of support for the second year running. Nine teams took part this time, including boys and girls from Year 9 – Year 13, staff, parents and siblings. Money raised from the food and drink sales went to Ripple Africa, and the player entrance fee was donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust. This charity was chosen to give more support to Archie Hudson-Rawling’s fundraising and awareness for his friend who is battling cancer. The enthusiastic supporters got behind their favourites and following lots of fun and serious competition the final was fought out between ‘Leg Ends’ and ‘Sasha’s Team’ – Sasha Macdonald, Charlotte Yeabsley, Lauryn Edwell, Emma Conway, Megan Yeabsley, Jolie Sharpe, Georgie Yeabsley and Evi Gallop. The players on the winning team, for the second year, were Sam Dawe, Sam Pennycook, Grant Cornock, Louise Gall, Luke Kirsten, Elizabeth Hudson and Stuart Scott.

Year 12 student Charlotte Yeabsley said “It was great fun and a very successful morning. We hope the money we raised helps and supports the charities with people in need.”

A very big thank you to all who took part – the players, the umpires, the time-keepers, the photographer and of course the supporters. We plan to run another tournament next year to raise more money for other worthy causes.
