Bank of England Interest Rate Challenge

The inaugural Interest Rate Challenge, created and hosted by Aldenham School, involved presentations by teams of students from four schools. Each team spoke for 15 minutes on whether the Bank of England should raise, lower or maintain interest rates to achieve the CPI inflation target of 2.0%. Students then took questions from the judge, Miss Gosia Goralczyk an agent from the Bank of England, to clarify their position and check their understanding.

The team from Aldenham were joined by students from Watford Grammar for Boys, St Clement Danes and Dr Challoners. The judge congratulated everyone on the high standard and quality of the presentations and all the work that they had put in. The day concluded with the judge nominating Dr Challoners as runners up, and Watford Grammar School for Boys as first place. Each of the four presenters from the winning team was given a £50 Amazon voucher.

Aldenham School would particularly like to thank the judge and the other schools for coming.
