Guitar Masterclass at Aldenham

We were delighted to welcome session guitarist Simon Small to the recital room for a Masterclass on Blues improvisation. The evening featured demonstrations by Simon, followed by an in-depth study of various techniques used by artists such as BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughn and John Mayer which the students can use for their own solo ideas. He also included a tour of his favourite guitars, amps and pedals that contribute to his dynamic sound.

Simon was impressed by some of the skills of the students and everybody thoroughly enjoyed the evening and, despite the diverse group of guitarists, took something away to add to their musical repertoire.
