House Public Speaking Competition

The annual House Public Speaking competition took place on Tuesday 28th of March. Each House took a very different approach to the year’s topic: ‘Aldenham attributes’. We welcomed Mrs Kate Watts and Mr Al Stewart to adjuciate and their thoughtful and perceptive line of questioning was both challenging and accessible for the competitors.

The audience and judges were very impressed with the exceptional quality of the speeches and with the courage, co-operation, aspiration and respect demonstrated by the competitors towards their peers and the competition in general. It was clear from everyone’s approach that the topic inspired a range of personal and emotional reactions. Each speaker delivered their speech with flair and confidence and the questions were answered with consideration and clarity.

After careful deliberation, the judges awarded first place to McGill’s House. Congratulations to Max Weil (speaker) and Tom Yardley (questions) who discussed how the virtues and achievements of Aldenhamians past and present symbolise the attributes of our School. It was an interesting and enlightening event, very much enjoyed by all.
