Tate Galleries Trip Inspires A Level Art Students

October 28, 2025
A Level Art students visited the Tate galleries to research contextual references for their Coursework projects. Starting at Tate Modern, students explored the permanent displays, identifying pieces that connected with their Coursework themes and discovering inspirational imagery that might steer their projects in new and exciting directions. Some students also visited the brilliant exhibition Walk The House by Do Ho Suh, which features a series of installations and sculptural pieces inspired by the concept of home.
After a delicious Japanese lunch, the group boarded an Uber Boat and travelled along the Thames to Tate Britain. There, they continued their contextual research—sketching, photographing, and making notes about the connections between the artworks and their own projects, as well as purchasing postcards of particularly inspirational pieces.
Back in the Art studio, students are now creating gallery pages detailing their research and the links made with their own work. Over the next few weeks, this research will form the foundation of their development work and ultimately their Coursework outcomes and Mock exam final pieces. It was a wonderful, sunny day full of creativity and exciting discoveries.
